“Shop for Free”: Ocean State Job Lot Brings Massive “Crazy Deal” Grand Opening to Glen Burnie

OSJL to mark fifth Maryland location at former Big Lots site

What: Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL) will celebrate the grand opening of its new store in Glen Burnie on Saturday, February 21, at 9:00 a.m. Located at 6623 Governor Ritchie Highway in Governor Plaza, the 34,155-square-foot store will be OSJL’s fifth location in Maryland and its first in Anne Arundel County. The store occupies a space formerly home to Big Lots, continuing OSJL’s strategic repurposing of well-known retail sites. OSJL opened stores in 18 other former Big Lots locations in 2025, including those located in Hagerstown, Easton, Elkton, and Chester.

Grand Opening “Crazy Deal” Highlights: To drive excitement during opening week, OSJL is offering high-value incentives for savvy shoppers:

The grand opening event will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and brief remarks from OSJL leadership and local officials, including the presentation of a County Council citation recognizing the store’s opening.

As part of the celebration, the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation will make community donations:

  • 30 Operation Sleep Well kits to Arundel House of Hope
  • Approximately 250 backpacks to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County
  • One pallet of food to Harvest Resources
