Ocean State Job Lot to Open New Store in Auburn, Massachusetts this Summer
Store will open in a former Big Lots location and will be OSJL’s 55th in the Bay State and tenth in Worcester County
North Kingstown, RI – (June 4, 2025) – Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL), the region’s premier discount retail chain with more than 160 stores in New England, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Maryland, is pleased to announce it will open a new store at 416 Southbridge Street in Auburn, Massachusetts this summer. The 43,000 sq. foot location is formerly a Big Lots and will be the brand’s 55th store in the state and tenth in Worcester County.
Located across from the Auburn Mall, this represents the Company’s 17th Big Lots opening in 2025 and continues OSJL’s strategic repurposing of former retail sites. The company has also acquired several former Christmas Tree Shops properties across New England. With its close proximity to Worcester, the store will offer shoppers easy access to the Mass Turnpike and Route 290.

OSJL will hire for up to 70 positions, including store leadership, supervisory, and full-time, part-time, and seasonal associates.
