Ocean State Job Lot Presents Record-Breaking Donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

The funds raised from an in-store and online donation drive will go towards Parkinson’s Disease research

North Kingstown, RI – (September 14, 2023) – Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL), the region’s premier discount retail chain with 152 stores across the Northeast, presented The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research with a check for more than $105,000 on Saturday, September 9th during the New England Parkinson’s Ride in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

The donation was made possible by a recent in-store and online donation drive for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Through a connection with OSJL ownership, Rhode Island physician David Fried, MD, sought the help of the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation for fundraising efforts. Fried participated in the New England Parkinson’s Ride in honor of his late father-in-law, who died from Parkinson’s Disease.

“We want to thank Ocean State Job Lot associates and our valued customers for making this donation possible,” said David Sarlitto, Executive Director, Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation. “We hope that this donation will help medical researchers in their mission to improve patient lives and get closer to finding a cure for Parkinson’s.”

“Ocean State Job Lot’s commitment to helping the Parkinson’s community fund a cure is astonishing,” said Axi Wechter, Executive Director, New England Parkinson’s Ride. “We are so thankful for their generous support.”
