Ocean State Job Lot Celebrates Grand Opening of Cape May, NJ Store
OSJL adds three new stores in former Big Lots locations in the Garden State in May
North Kingstown, RI – (May 31, 2025) – Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL), the region’s premier discount retail chain, celebrated the opening of its newest store in New Jersey, located at 3845 Bayshore Road in Cape May, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning. The 43,021 sq. ft. space, formerly home to a Big Lots, marks OSJL’s ninth store in the Garden State and the second of three stores the brand has opened in May. Barnegat celebrated its grand opening on May 17th and Somers Point hosted its official grand opening this afternoon.
OSJL executives joined local officials including Lower Township Mayor Frank Sippel and Councilor Joseph Wareham for a celebration that highlighted the company’s continued investment in revitalizing well-known retail sites and expanding job opportunities in the region. And, as part of OSJL’s ongoing commitment to the communities it serves, the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation donated 35 kits from its Operation Sleep Well initiative including linens, towels, and bedding to Enphront Veteran Services.
In addition to the ribbon cutting, customers enjoyed free pictures with Bluey, complimentary glitter tattoos, complimentary donuts and beverages, and a live broadcast from a local radio station. All attendees had the chance to win one of three $150 Ocean State Job Lot gift cards.

This location has created new jobs for the area, including supervisory, full-time, part-time, and seasonal roles. OSJL expects to continue its expansion across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic with additional store openings throughout 2025.
