Ocean State Job Lot Celebrates Grand Opening of Mays Landing, NJ Store
OSJL adds four new stores in former Big Lots locations in the Garden State in 2025
North Kingstown, RI – (November 22, 2025) – Ocean State Job Lot (OSJL), the region’s premier discount retail chain with 176 stores across New England and the Mid-Atlantic, celebrated the opening of its newest store in New Jersey, located at 4215 Black Horse Pike in Mays Landing, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning. The 34,120 sq. ft. space, formerly home to a Big Lots, marks OSJL’s 11th store in the Garden State and the second in Atlantic County.
Located in the Hamilton Commons shopping center, just 20 minutes from the Shore, the store is the company’s 18th opening in a former Big Lots location in 2025 and continues OSJL’s strategic repurposing of former retail sites. The company has also acquired several former Christmas Tree Shops properties across the Northeast.
OSJL executives joined local officials including Hamilton Township Deputy Mayor Carl Pitale for a celebration that highlighted the company’s continued investment in revitalizing well-known retail sites and expanding job opportunities in the region. And, as part of OSJL’s ongoing commitment to the communities it serves, the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation donated a pallet of toys and an assortment of adult bikes to Toys for Tots Atlantic County, New Jersey, and a pallet of Operation Sleep Well kits to the Veterans Village of Absecon, New Jersey.
In addition to the ribbon cutting, customers enjoyed free pictures with Santa, complimentary glitter tattoos, complimentary donuts and beverages, and a live broadcast from 100.7 WZXL South Jersey’s Rock Station. All attendees had the chance to win one of three $150 Ocean State Job Lot gift cards, and one of five adult bikes valued at $299.
“We’re thrilled to introduce Mays Landing and the Township to our unique brand of shopping,” said Don Larcher, Store Team Leader, Mays Landing. “Our team has worked hard to convert this location into a new Ocean State Job Lot, and we cannot wait to meet everyone and become a true part of the community.”
This location has created new jobs for the area, including supervisory, full-time, part-time, and seasonal roles. OSJL expects to continue its expansion across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic with additional store openings throughout 2026.
